We seek a Senior Gameplay Programmer for a new console game project. After spearheading early technical tests and gameplay experiments, this position will evolve into leading a growing team of gameplay programmers. The ideal candidate will closely work with leads from other disciplines to analyze requirements, define milestones and manage teams to ensure the smooth production of gameplay features.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate engine architecture and workflows. Test core systems for gameplay
  • With other leads, analyze game requirements. Evaluate cost and risk and define milestones
  • Work with the Lead Engine Programmer to design efficient, scalable solutions
  • Prepare documentation and tutorials for other teams
  • Manage gameplay programmers, ensuring smooth production of features: implementation of best practices, task scheduling, regular reports, etc.
  • Take charge of design and implementation of core gameplay systems.
  • Conduct regular reviews and profiling, ensuring specifications and an enjoyable player experience (incl. debugging, optimization).

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in gameplay programming
  • Rock-solid C++ programming skills
  • Experience working with current-gen, cross-platform game engines
  • Experience in efficiently iterating upon gameplay features from prototyping to polishing
  • Strong skill in code profiling and optimization
  • Good knowledge of AI/Animation related mathematics and physics
  • Experience working with and supporting a team of various disciplines. Teamwork-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to communicate in English and/or Japanese

Good to have

  • Experience in completing a AAA title on PS4 or XBOX1
  • Experience in team management
