Responsible for Finance and Accounting operations of the business. Lead the day-to-day operation of the Finance and Accounting function to ensure appropriate accounting records are maintained, reporting requirements are met and a robust control environment is in place.
Requirements
Key Deliverables:
Manages financial closing process and prepares monthly and quarterly financial reporting for submission to Japan headquarters. Have a detailed understanding of the company’s business operations to be able to plan, anticipate and address any accounting issues.
Oversees and provides guidance to the Accounting Team primarily consisting of AP/Purchases, AR/Sales, Stock and GL accounting roles.
Be able to understand and review journals which include but not limited to capitalization of development costs, reserves and accruals.
Liaise with Tax Manager on tax provisions and other tax-related issues. Manages year end audit process for group reporting and UK entity statutory accounts. This includes managing relationship with external auditors.
Identifies, analyses and adopts to new accounting standards affecting the Company. Communicates any new standards within Accounting Team for proper implementation.
Oversees cash management in multiple currencies and maintain relationship with the Company’s banks.
Assist with preparation of annual budget process.
Reviews and approves new supplier/customer requests and purchase orders. Reviews and approves financial clauses in legal contract requests.
Collaborates with other departments especially when providing financial reporting and analysis.
Oversees compliance to established internal controls including JSOX requirements. Modifies and implements new controls to any new business as appropriate.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and increase efficiency of financial processes.
Other ad hoc responsibilities as required.

Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
ACA qualified or equivalent
Proven working experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent
Experience leading a team and managing direct reports
Understanding of effective internal control environment
Desirable:
SOX or JSOX experience
Consolidation experience
Audit experience
