Game Designer, UE4

Snail Games USA is looking for a Game Designer with Unreal Experience to join a core dev team in spearheading continued development on a released AAA title which is currently live in Early Access. In addition to working with the other members of the core team, you will be coordinating with multiple outsourcing groups in a remote work environment to execute feature development in an iterative fashion

Candidates must be capable of working remotely and solid communication skills are a must. A successful candidate will have a track record of working alongside other disciplines in a collaborative fashion to implement features in UE4. This individual must be able to act as a feature owner and understand high level design pillars and implement features which drive them forward

Snail Gamesโ€™ office is located in sunny Culver City! During these unprecedented times remote work will be supported but this is ultimately an on-site position. This position is a 6 Month Contract-To-Hire role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside our engineering and art teams to design and implement game features in UE4
  • Own and drive feature design and creation, from ideation to finished product
  • Provide feedback on features and designs created by the team
  • Be a champion for the design vision for the game, evolving the game while defending the central design pillars
  • Help with both feature work, and emerging live issues as they arrive

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years game design experience, including at least one shipped product
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that facilitate collaboration in cross-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to think both tactically and strategically when it comes to design
  • Eagerness to work on many different parts of the game and break down knowledge silos
  • Self-starter that will constantly seek to improve the game, while working independently
  • Enthusiastic learner, always seeking to level up development skills

  • Experience with scripting via Blueprints (or similar)
  • Ability to flex in multiple design disciplines (narrative, content, systems, technical)
  • Non-design development experience (programming, art, production)
