About the Role:

As an Analytics Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will help bridge the gap between engineering and business groups to make new features observable and meaningful. You will help guide the entire data discovery process by defining and maintaining data models built by data engineers for analytics and business intelligence usage. Reporting to a Data Engineering Manager, you will be critical in ensuring that data produced across the Skillz ecosystem is easily discoverable and consumable by all business stakeholders.

What You Will Do:

  • Building strong cross-functional relationships between engineering and business stakeholders
  • Design and create enterprise-grade data models
  • Develop and review product and engineering design plans
  • Utilize tools and create processes to map data lineage and data quality
  • Implement and maintain key business metrics definitions
  • Define data driven practices
  • Ensure quality of data delivered to business
  • Optimize and empower business decisions through domain specific mappings
  • Work closely with analytics groups to create meaningful visualizations and dashboards

Your Skillz:

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience in data warehousing, data modeling, and data management
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS/GCP
  • Experience with data lake and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience working with scripting languages such as Python
  • Fluency in SQL
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience with complex object relationships
  • Attention to detail

Bonus:

  • B.S. or higher in Computer Science or related fields
  • Experience working with customer acquisition, mobile, gaming, or finance domains
  • Experience in cloud-native technologies
  • Experience working with Tableau or equivalent
  • Background in software development
  • Working knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, NATS, etc) as well as cloud native distributed systems
  • Knowledge of data orchestration tools such as Airflow / Prefect
  • Prior experience or working knowledge of data warehousing systems e.g. Snowflake, Athena/Presto
