Rockstar is seeking an experienced Director, Data Management & Governance to join our growing Analytics Team. This full-time position can be based out of Rockstar’s game development studio in the heart of downtown Manhattan or our San Diego studio in sunny Carlsbad, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with members of the Development, Game, SocialClub, Publishing, and Live Ops teams to establish data governance best practices at Rockstar Games.
  • Drive the roll out of an enterprise-wide data governance technology platform, with focuses on improving data quality and protecting sensitive data.
  • Modify organization behavior policies and standards.
  • Develop data principles, governance metrics, processes, and tools relating to data architecture.
  • Develop and monitor work processes, identifying opportunities to automate, minimize error and maximize productivity.
  • Develop data governance tools to remain globally compliant.
  • Enable teams to efficiently input and analyze data received from internal and external sources, ensuring the most accurate and validated data is available for decision making.
  • Own and lead the development of a taxonomy across the Game Team.
  • Establishes best practices around metadata management and data quality.
  • Drive constant improvements in data quality, governance and knowledge discoverability via a non-invasive strategy.
  • Own several data tools and programs, including Tableau (BI), data quality, and Alation.
  • Execute, assess and adapt a data governance program on a quarterly basis.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and trends in the data space
  • Build and develop a global team of data governance professionals.

Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years of work experience in data strategy, management, and acquisition
  • 5+ years data modeling and architecture experience
  • 10+ years in leadership and management
  • Bachelor's Degree is a related field is preferred
  • Demonstrated thought leadership with data governance, quality, stewardship, ontologies, taxonomies, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with GDPR, CCPA, VCDPA and other customer protection and privacy policies applicable in the e-commerce industries.
  • Passion for driving business value through the use of high-quality data and advocating for the value of data as an asset.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate at all levels, including technical communication.
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies on prem and in the cloud such as Tableau, Hadoop, Snowflake, Spark and Hive.
  • Experience in developing and implementing a data governance strategy for managing high quality structured, semi structured, and unstructured data (images, videos) across on-prem and public cloud deployments.
  • Experience in an agile fast-paced video game, e-commerce, or technology environment

Desired

  • Professional experience with Alation and Collibra
  • MBA or other related graduate-level degree is desired
  • Experience establishing a successful, non-invasive data governance strategy
  • Game industry experience strongly desired.
  • Passion for video games, especially Rockstar titles!
