As the Senior/Principal Product Manager, Developer Monetization, you will help develop the virtual economy at Roblox and ensure that Developers and Creators can earn from their products. All purchasing on the platform with Robux including products developers sell in their experiences, avatar items, game passes, private servers, and a host of new types runs through this virtual economy system. You will help the creators on Roblox to understand how best to monetize and grow their business and reinvest resources into making their experiences and products even better. You will provide insights and reporting to all participants in the ecosystem (users, creators, sellers) so they can understand their sales, and how to grow. You will also evaluate ways in which complex development teams can distribute and share earnings across their contributors. You will report into the Director of Payments and Fraud.

You will:

  • Partner with engineering to build a scalable and resilient virtual purchasing system to support all virtual transactions on Roblox

  • Develop the Roblox virtual economy reporting system, which spans across all economy participants including developers, creators, and users.

  • Partner with our fraud and security team to ensure that purchasing on Roblox is protected and safe against malicious actors

  • Work through downstream possible effects and unintended consequences that require difficult tradeoffs around understandability, simplicity, and consistency.

  • Lead brainstorming, take these early ideas and iterate, experiment, and build. Defend your POV and adapt your ideas to bring the best result.

  • Partner with other product, design and engineering teams at Roblox, and guide strategic understanding. Enroll other teams into your product vision and align roadmaps to ensure cohesive product functionality and value proposition.

  • Immerse yourself with our developer community to understand their needs. You will identify the most pressing and important problems for us to solve. Use customer understanding and empathy to discover and determine the right problems and products to pursue.

  • Balance and prioritize new features with existing backlog plans and align them with the product vision

You have:

  • A history working on complex marketplaces and/or virtual economies. Built and supported purchasing systems between buyers and sellers. Familiar with virtual item consumables and durables.

  • Familiarity with merchant account oriented features such as earnings, commissions, escrows, and payouts

  • Build complex reporting and analytical tools for businesses (app analytics, web analytics, ads reporting, monetization reporting)

  • Been an E2E owner of the product development life cycle from creation through planning to launch

  • 4+ years of product management experience, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar technical field.

You are:

  • Knowledgeable of virtual currencies and the process of purchasing and fulfillment of products using this virtual currency.

  • Understand complex processes involving change of ownership, payouts, clawbacks, refunds, commissions, and escrows.

  • Opinionated and willing to make calls with limited information. Comfortable advocating for resources and operating in a dynamic, fluid organization. Able to drive alignment and decision making across executives.

  • Technical, comfortable delving into product, platform and implementation details. Engage with engineering beyond just product and user experience needs, and design scalable solutions

  • Experienced in analytics and reporting tools and have worked to convert data into applicable insights to achieve our goals

  • Comfortable with understanding data, logging, and joining distinct data sets into useful analysis

  • Metrics-driven, with proficiency in identifying, tracking and acting upon metrics using A/B testing methods. Experience identifying indicators and working with engineering and analytics on instrumentation and monitoring

  • A close partner to engineering and design and proficient in building extremely detailed technical specifications or wireframes

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

$302,940—$368,230 USD
