About the role:

As a Software Engineer in the Fleet Control Plane pod of Roblox's Compute Group, you'll take on a product and engineering-centric role to transform fleet management at scale. Reporting directly to Kilian Ciuffolo, the EM for the Machine Management layer, you'll employ Kubernetes to design autonomous and self-service systems that revolutionize capacity allocation and the lifecycle of hundreds of thousands of machines both on-premises and in the cloud. In this product and engineering-focused role, your innovative solutions will be instrumental in shaping the future of Roblox's Private Cloud.

You will:

Develop a declarative system using Kubernetes and custom controllers to manage the lifecycle of a fleet encompassing hundreds of thousands of machines, both on-premises and in the cloud.

You have:

  • 10+ years of industry experience.

  • Leadership experience as Tech Lead.

  • Design and cross-functional experience in delivering big projects over multiple quarters.

  • Prefer building autonomous systems over ops and repetitive tasks.

  • Like and understand the importance of documentation for large scale systems.

  • Care deeply about production health and reliable, sustainable production systems.

  • Customer, team, and quality oriented.

  • Like getting things done

  • No experience required in this specific area of infrastructure, but being excited about the problem space is a must.

You are:

  • A solution-oriented innovator

  • Detail-oriented and adaptable to fast-paced, evolving environments.

  • Committed to process improvement.

  • Build and maintain a Machine Operational API to support various functionalities like Cells, Compute API, and multi-regional automation.

  • Automate capacity allocation to reduce human toil.

  • Implement safe drain protocols for efficient fleet lifecycle management.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$283,780—$331,640 USD
