As an Engineering Manager on Apex Legends you will help attract, grow and manage a diverse and skilled team of Engineers. Engineering Management is a new discipline at Respawn, so you'll help establish best practices and processes as part of this role. As Engineering Management is a new discipline at respawn you'll work collaborative with our Technical Directors and Technical Leads to establish best practices and form strong working relationships to ensure our teams are productive, happy, and have a clear growth path established for themselves. You'll work with partners across all disciplines to gather feedback on the Engineers you support and help foster a safe environment that upholds our team and company cultures, and ensure that Respawn remains an incredible place to work.

Responsibilities

  • Help establish and maintain processes that ensure equitable recruiting, interviewing and hiring.
  • Serve as point of contact for onboarding and training and improve these processes where applicable
  • Manage a team of Engineers across differing disciplines (Gameplay/UI/Systems/Networking/Etc)
  • Help establish growth plans, solicit feedback, and handle performance management for all direct reports
  • Partner closely with, and work in lock-step alongside with Technical Directors and Leads
  • Help grow Engineering Management discipline at Respawn
  • Look for opportunities to help reinforce Respawn and Engineering team culture across the group
  • Work with production to drive team health (Including ensuring the team isn't crunching/has high trust/feels empowered/etc)
  • Attract, interview and grow highly talented engineers to the team

Requirements

  • Passion for making and playing games.
  • Strong communication skills
  • 3+ years hands on technical experience
  • Experiencing hiring and growing engineers under your management
  • Demonstrated experience giving constructive feedback and managing difficult conversations with confidence and respect
  • Comfortable managing and working with distributed/remote teams

Nice to Have

  • CS or Comp Eng degree preferred.
  • Shipped multiple AAA titles
  • Prior gameplay experience on a AAA shooter
