Summary:
The CAD Specialist is responsible for delivering high quality digital 3D CAD models used in Razer’s industrial design and product development process.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for a robust CAD design process and surface quality standards as well as CAD data creation, management, and transfer from design to engineering.
- Create high quality 3D surfaces for various design concepts, visualizations, prototypes, design and engineering evaluations; use knowledge of physical product development to produce quality class-A surfaces out of a variety of design / engineering data for product development and manufacturing.
- Collaborate with industrial design team to create design intent digital models while collaborating with cross-functional teams across Razer to understand product requirements.
- Define all production design relevant details based on design direction.
- Work with industrial design team to understand the product roadmap and appropriately plan to meet schedules and goals.
- Collaborate with internal/external partners (domestic and international) to develop CAD for prototypes or production parts.
- Work within Razer’s existing materials and manufacturing processes while also helping to develop unique and differentiating material and manufacturing solutions.
- Work with cross-platform teams in Taiwan, Singapore and China.
- Travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and/or internationally).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BFA) or equivalent in industrial design, transportation design, or equivalent field.
- 5+ years of design experience covering 3D modeling, product development and relevant engineering and manufacturing technical knowledge.
- Highly proficient with 2D and 3D design visualization and CAD tools.
- Fluent in Alias, Solidworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, KeyShot, and or other visualization and CAD software.
- Extensive knowledge in engineering and manufacturing complex Class A parts and assemblies, aided by a deep understanding of the applicable tooling methods.
- Experience in physical modeling / fabrication.
- Knowledge of materials, process, assembly, electronics, and production methods.
- Strong Sketching and prototype making capabilities.
- Strong ability to visualize and present CMF.
- Highly motivated problem solver with a rigorous attention to detail and ability to implement changes rapidly.
- Excellent time management, organization & prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects while managing competing priorities.
- Ability to network and establish relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiation and influencing skills as well as determination and tenacity.
