PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Department of Community and Summer Programs at Point Park University is seeking a temporary coach to teach their first annual eSports summer camp. This camp is designed specifically for high school students, grades 9-12, with various skill levels. Students training in the program will not only learn exceptional gaming techniques, but they'll also learn what it takes to sustain a healthy lifestyle in the demanding world of professional gaming and beyond.
Curated, lecture and lab style camp. eSports coach will primarily lead afternoon sessions.
Sunday- Saturday, 7 days total.
Available weeks: July 7th, 14th or 21st. (Based on applicant's availability).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Position requires coaching or teaching experience with at least one year of competitive eSports knowledge involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements. Expert knowledge of League af Legends, Overwatch, or similar game(s). A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to resolve issues independently is preferred.
Additional Requirements: For this position, Point Park University requires the successful candidate to obtain PA Act 153 clearances with satisfactory results.
DUTIES AND JOB RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop coaching sessions to ensure students are learning, having fun, and staying
- Teach team league and institutional rules for
- Must be EXCELLENT with young students, grades 9-12.
- Collaborate with the Lead Instructor and Director of Community & Summer
- Develop and implement a take home training manual about team play, communication, VOD review, and how attendees can take their game to the next level after camp
- Assist with group travel / field trips when
- Continuously ensure personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with Point Park University values and
- Other related duties as assigned.
