We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join their Systems Infrastructure team, providing operational and development support across all systems and associated applications be it on-premise or in the cloud. The role will include both BAU and project work working closely with development teams to provide robust, secure, and cost-effective solutions to support the PlayStation business needs.

You’ll be joining a highly skilled and motivated team of Systems Engineers responsible for supporting an infrastructure estate comprising of Windows Server, Linux Server, VMWare ESX, On-premise storage platforms and supporting infrastructure services. It’s a great opportunity to learn new things, work on new technology and get on-board with a team that’s at the beginning of their journey to move systems and services into the cloud.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide 3rd line support across a Linux Server estate of around 200 servers
  • Improve team efficiency removing the mundane day to day tasks through automation, tooling, and transition of BAU tasks to the IT Operations Team.
  • Ensure all systems are maintained to high security standards through vulnerability management including OS and 3rd party patching, system hardening and configuration management.
  • Take ownership of infrastructure projects from inception through to transition
  • Maintain high standards of documentation, process management, governance and compliance.

What we are looking for:

  • Significant experience with Linux Administration - RedHat, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
  • Knowledge of Linux configuration management tools (eg, Puppet, ansible, etc)
  • Scripting skills specifically bash. Other scripting languages advantageous.
  • Experience of managing systems in the AWS cloud an advantage.
  • Familiar with infrastructure as code automation technologies to build and deploy both infrastructure and applications (i.e. Terraform, Ansible)
  • Knowledge of storage technologies.
  • Proactive, self-managing, with an ability to work as part of a team and individually.
  • You should have a passion for technology keeping up to date with the latest technology trends and solutions.

Other Information

  • Work Pattern. The team covers hours between 08:00–18:00 Monday – Friday.
