Sr. Programmer – Security Operations Code and Tools San Diego, CA

The Senior Programmer is a member of the Security Operations Code and Tools team at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). The primary responsibility for this role is the development of new tools and processes designed to assist other areas of Security Operations. In addition, the senior programmer will be required to support other initiatives such as report generation and system optimization as well as lend expertise with other security engineering initiatives which may or may not require programming.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor other Security Operations (SecOps) members in multiple disciplines such as hacking, scripting and programming.
  • Operationalize third party tools and technology, including monitoring, alerting and reporting.
  • Connect third party tools and APIs to internal systems for control and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain tools to automate or assist functions of SecOps.
  • Debug code by conducting tests; modifying code to produce required results.
  • Create and manage databases to support tools and functions of SecOps.
  • Consult and advise, bridging Security Architecture and Security Engineering.
  • Improve reporting capabilities within SecOps.
  • Improve performance of various security tools.
  • Interact with outside teams and speak knowledgably about various topics such as security configurations, networking principles, Linux system administration, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ Years of programming experience with work in design to completion.
  • In-depth familiarity with programming and scripting languages such as Shell, Go, Java, Python and Perl.
  • In-depth knowledge of databases such as MySQL, Postgres SQL and Oracle.
  • Experience in designing and building security and intelligence gathering tools.
  • In-depth experience with grayhat hacking methods such as penetration testing.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Knowledge of virtual infrastructure and AWS APIs.
  • Ability to lead and communicate efficiently within a team environment.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Advanced technical writing skills.
  • 8+ Years of programming experience with work in design to completion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field

Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge of: Strong Authentication, End Point Security, Internet Policy Enforcement, Firewalls, Web Content Filtering, Database Activity Monitoring (DAM), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Understanding of Golang desirable.
  • Experience with AWS and Akamai technologies
