Senior Manager, Business Intelligence & Data Engineering

As the Senior Manager of Business Intelligence & Data Engineering, you will lead the strategy, design, and implementation of our next-generation business intelligence and data platforms for Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE)- Future Technology Group! You will have interactions with several teams across our group including Senior management, R&D, Engineering, and Product to develop the future of gaming. You will work on full-stack BI from ETL, to data warehouse and analytical and statistical studies.

What do you know?

  • Robust understanding of data management technologies such as MPP DB, K8s, Flink, Spark, Kafka
  • Solid understanding of AWS BI ecosystem and tooling
  • Some BI tools such as Microstrategy, Tableau, etc.
  • Analytic Data Stores like Vertica, Snowflake, Elastic Search, Splunk, etc.
  • How to distill requirements and summarize a request
  • Team-based software development tools and standard methodologies
  • You have exceptional social skills
  • You excel at taking vague requirements and formulating them into valuable tools and perspectives

What will you do?

  • Work to support SIE FTG problems and initiatives that will be foundational to the future of Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Direct a team of highly hardworking BI analysts doing studies, reports and adhoc requests
  • Own an engineering team to that builds ETL and Database systems
  • Provide direction and break people out of recursive loops when they are trying to problem tackle
  • Own the strategic direction of the data platform and analytics teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven ability in engineering, including management experience leading engineering organizations.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years in leading BI and Data Engineering teams
  • Experience in recruiting engineering talent, mentoring their teams, and collaborating with senior partners across an organization.
  • Experience in building highly scalable systems, including data analysis experience.
  • Experience in lifecycle data rollouts at scale, promoting product excellence and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering
  • Game or tech industry experience
