Marketing & Advertising Paralegal

San Mateo, CA

Sony PlayStation is seeking a hardworking Paralegal to work on marketing, IP, and entertainment issues as a member of the PlayStation Marketing and Advertising Legal Team. PlayStation offers the opportunity to work in a technology company with an entertainment focus, in a casual and friendly workplace. Responsibilities:

  • Review advertising and marketing materials, including video content and TV spots, webpages, blog posts, social media posts, and point of sale materials, to provide intellectual property clearance and confirm compliance with applicable advertising regulations, company standards and industry standards.
  • Review brand and co-promotion activations, including contest/sweepstakes, influencer materials, live event presentations, and product placement opportunities.
  • Draft sweepstakes and contest rules, winner notifications, and publicity releases.
  • Reviewing marketing creative and assets for compliance with promotion laws, company standards and industry standards.
  • Review of marketing materials for marketing teams including: brand marketing, partnerships, activations & events, content lifecycle marketing including subscription products, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, PlayStation.com, integrated marketing, esports marketing and corporate communications teams.
  • In consultation with attorneys, provide advice to Marketing teams on all topics listed above, including legal risks and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other paralegals in the legal team both in San Mateo and regional legal teams to provide practical and pragmatic global feedback in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the development of policies, practice guides, training materials, playbooks and guidelines for marketing teams and legal teams.
  • This role will report to Senior Counsel, Marketing and Advertising Legal team and work closely with other attorneys and paralegals.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years Intellectual Property, Advertising & Marketing, Media, or Entertainment Law Experience in House or at a Law Firm.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Paralegal experience.
  • Background in all or some of the following areas: Trademark, Copyright, Promotions, Privacy, Entertainment and Advertising Law.
  • Experience working in a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and optimally assess priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with technology, and/or video game industries a plus.
  • Experience working with global and/or cross-functional teams a plus.
