Team Overview

SIE IT Service & Support – London’ provides support services to the European user base. The broad computing environment runs Microsoft Windows as the core operating system for desktops, laptops and thin clients, integrated with Active Directory and Microsoft Windows Servers.

In addition, the team supports an expanding Apple Mac environment running OS X on Apple iMac’s, Mac Pro’s and MacBook Pro’s. As part of this expansion, Apple devices are enrolled under central management using JAMF Pro.

Role Overview

The Client Platform Engineer is responsible for the support, planning and the delivery of related Client Platform Engineering (CPE) infrastructure and services. These are fundamental to enabling SIEE’s (Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe) business activities. This role has a key focus on assisting with the technical strategic planning, R&D in addition to production and ongoing support of CPE services.

CPE functions include development and management of various back-end technical infrastructure components including but not limited to:

  • Maintenance and development of the corporate build.
  • Security patching.
  • Anti-virus.
  • Active Directory.
  • Packaging and scripting.
  • Virtualisation technologies.
  • Defining supported platforms and hardware.

Stakeholder management will play an important part of the role along with involvement in long-term strategic planning. This will require the successful candidate to as advise and consult on relevant projects impacting the end user computing environment.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate enterprise-level experience building, managing and supporting end user computing solutions based on the following:

  • VMWare Horizon
  • Microsoft Windows
  • Microsoft App-V
  • Microsoft UEV, Microsoft Active Directory,
  • Ivanti EPM/LANDesk LDMS
  • McAfee EPO

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Monitoring and tracking of actual costs against forecasts, highlighting variances and suggesting remedies
  • Costing of proposed solutions and ensuring these solutions make the most cost-effective use of cloud and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) resources
  • Forecasting and applying this to the budgetary process
  • Producing the capacity plan and ensuring that business demand can be met and that sufficient capacity is available
  • Monitoring platform usage and using this as an input to planning
  • Liaising closely with colleagues from different teams, for instance finance, architecture and other delivery groups
  • Suggesting improvements to existing processes and ways of working, particularly related to ensuring accuracy to forecasts and plans

Responsibilities

What we are looking for:

  • Ensure adequate security levels hardening across all end user platforms through configuration and regular patch management of both the operating system and application
  • administration of End Point Protection and auditing systems
  • Responsible for a comprehensive packaging and delivery strategy to include areas such as corporate application delivery, antivirus, security patching, drivers /updates, corporate PC and laptop builds, provisioning / imaging OS deployment, user data migration and system tools such as LANDesk/Ivanti / Qualys and McAfee EPO
  • Assist in developing and maintaining roadmaps relating to CPE services and technology both current and emerging
  • To define process and policy for the selection and delivery of new end user devices such as PC’s (physical or virtual) and peripherals for departments or users and manage the specification, construction for 2nd line teams
  • Ensure CPE infrastructure is kept updated in line with GISS/ GISP policy’s, and procedures adhere to SOX controls
  • Manage small projects relating to “business as usual” that are outside of the PMO (Project Management Office)
  • Maintain awareness of technical developments within the industry and contribute to CPE roadmaps for the SIEE estate
  • Ensure support calls are within SLA, advising line management frequently using KPI’s
  • To assist in the continual development of policies and procedures covering all aspects of CPE
  • Escalate to line management problems or complaints should they arise and contribute to their resolution

Experience

Technical

  • Proven experience in supporting an enterprise desktop estate, including application packaging and OS deployment or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of End Point Protection with McAfee CEE Suite. Including: McAfee Agent, Antivirus, HIPS and administration through ePolicy Orchestrator
  • Qualys for vulnerability reporting and device compliance
  • PAM and PIM Tools and working in environments where they are used
  • Experience of working with a SIEM solution
  • Demonstrable and proven detailed knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems including, Windows 7 and 10, MDOP. Active Directory, Group Policies and managing the Desktop Environment, VMWare Horizon, Anti-Virus Software
  • Experience with Microsoft productivity tools, WSUS, SCCM, Sysprep, Ximage, Assessment and Planning Solution Accelerator and Migration Tools
  • Ivanti EPM (or LANDesk Management Suite V 9.6 onwards), administration, maintenance, software distribution, security patching and OS deployment, provisioning
  • Experience of Microsoft App-V, Windows Installer Technologies, MSI’s, Transforms and tools such as ORCA
  • OS Deployment and Imaging Tools, Ghost, or similar, Microsoft Unattended/Scripted Installs.
  • Good scripting abilities using PowerShell or VBScript
  • User data migration tools (USMT)

Non-Technical

  • Proven problem solving and diagnostic capabilities
  • Proven experience of working with ITIL framework including change management & release management
  • Ability to analyse and interpret general business and technical procedures. To also write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • A proactive approach and the ability to inspire others within the team
  • Proven ability to work under pressure

Qualifications

  • Relevant technical certification which may include:
  • LANDesk/Ivanti Certification - Certified LANDesk engineer (CLE)
  • Microsoft certification e.g., MCTS, MCDST
  • ITIL Service Management Foundation
  • VMWare Certified Professional
