The AR/VR team at Facebook is developing future products in augmented reality and virtual reality with cutting-edge tech development and research that will enable groundbreaking experiences for consumers and businesses. We are hiring for an experienced Technical Program Manager to support the AR/VR Identity development team.

The Identity team works to manage the overall system of user accounts, access, and profiles across AR/VR devices, and across the suites of Oculus and Facebook services. This is a growing area of investment for AR/VR involving the coordination of large, cross-functional efforts to ensure we grow capabilities while maintaining a seamless user experience. The work of the Identity team spans a broad spectrum, including UX design, engineering, privacy, security, legal, and more.

For the AR/VR Identity TPM role, we are looking for individuals with broad experience in software project management to help coordinate efforts across the organization to improve our Identity systems. You will establish requirements with the internal team as well as cross-functional partners and dependent teams, manage program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, and clearly communicate to program stakeholders. Experience with navigating trade-offs around complexity and UX clarity is critical. The ideal candidate is energized by working cross-functionally and having broad impact, is passionate about the future of AR and VR computing, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Develop project schedules based on product requirements, technical challenges, and business needs.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to identify constraints, dependencies, risks/issues, and to deliver reporting and software features.
  • Work with partners to identify and address privacy and security concerns proactively, and drive plans for resolutions across teams.
  • Work with engineering to ensure what we build has the right balance of cost vs. benefit, and focuses on addressing the highest priority partner team and customer needs.
  • Coordinate and contribute to engineering deliverables including specifications and test plans.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current and available for staff and leadership review.
  • Identify resources needed and work closely with the team leads to maintain full visibility of multiple projects, ensuring resource gaps are addressed efficiently.
  • BS in an engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience as a program manager working in a cross-functional software development environment.
  • Experience in driving large initiatives across multiple software teams within an organization.
  • Communication skills, with experience influencing other teams to deliver against org-wide goals and keep teams informed of program progress.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and best practices.
  • Knowledge with project and issue tracking systems.
