Description

Null Games is a new, developer-friendly publisher of indie games for PC and console. We look for fun, memorable games that need development funds and marketing to help bring their vision to life. In addition to funding and marketing, we also help with porting games to other platforms, QA, localization, and merchandising, so developers can focus on making the best game possible. Our team is fully remote and based in the US, but our games are made all over the world.

We're looking for an experienced public relations person to help grow our new company into a premium publisher of indie games as well as spreading the word for Null itself. This person will be responsible for developing, coordinating and directing all communications effectively and independently. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented and an adaptable team player. This role is an integral part of the team and the individual will be working closely with the marketing team and have extensive experience managing external PR agencies.

To ensure each of our titles gets the time and attention it deserves, we only publish a few games each year. We've announced three game so far; Tape to Tape, Athena Crisis and ExeKiller, but we've signed publishing agreements with a few more games that we'll be announcing in the near future as well.

What You'll Do

  • The Head of PR is responsible for developing, coordinating and directing all communications for all our signed games and driving awareness Null itself.

  • Develop, coordinate and manage public relations campaigns, social plans (as needed), preview events, and related activities that sustain a premium image for both our games and Null and cultivates media support.

  • Strategize, develop and execute effective communications for our games that cover announcement and potential post-launch phases for titles as well as ongoing activities to promote Null’s brand.

  • Champion and expand relationships with top-tier media and influencers to secure compelling coverage, with a particular focus on games and mainstream media outlets.

  • Leveraging market data to develop content themes/topics and execute a plan to develop the assets that support a point of view and educate customers that leads to critical behavioral metrics.

  • Develop standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval and content repurposing, including the real-time implementation of content strategies.

  • Manage press relations including such activities as preparation of news releases and feature articles, blog writing, and the making of arrangements for interviews between indie developers/Null and press, radio, and television representatives.

  • Track and evaluate media coverage, providing regular reports and recommendations on an ongoing basis.

  • A passion for new technology tools and usage of these tools within our own blog and social media outreach.

  • This role may have a supervisory component for managing staff members in the future.

  • Hire and manage team members as needed.

  • Work remotely and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Love of indie games.

  • Be a storyteller that must be emphatic toward the pain points of the players with a firm understanding of what matters to them.

  • Requires a combination of a marketing and publishing mindset, with the most important aspect being to think “player and developer first”

  • Solid background in media relations, PR writing, plan execution and event coordination.

  • Creative thinker with a good sense for what will resonate with media; ability and demonstrated background in planning and executing PR initiatives with proven results.

  • Proactive, well-organized planner that can work independently to set schedules and manage multiple deadlines at any time.

  • Outstanding written, verbal, analytical, presentation and internal skills are key.

  • Up-to-date on industry trends and relevant pop culture happenings.

  • Comfortable working with remote tools such as Discord, wikis, video chat, etc.

  • Comfortable working with external partners and game developers.

  • Comfortable working in a small team.

  • Uncomfortable with predatory business practices, dark patters, and sleazy marketing techniques.
