NUEL is the UK’s largest university esports community and organiser, with over 15,000 students from 110 universities taking part in tournaments and social gaming events throughout the year.

Our marketing team is responsible for the promotion and marketing of all of our activities, ranging from national competitions to social events and skills development opportunities. The team also manages broadcasts on Twitch to promote up-and-coming talent and players.

The Broadcast Team is seeking student shoutcasters (commentators) for League of Legends, Women's League of Legends, CS:GO, Overwatch, Rainbow 6 Siege, Valorant, Clash Royale and TFT!

The Spring season will start on 7th February, running for 8 weeks. Broadcasts are Sunday-Friday every week. The weekly schedule is as follows:

  • Sunday - Valorant
  • Monday - Clash Royale and Overwatch
  • Tuesday - CS:GO
  • Wednesday - League of Legends and Rainbow Six Siege
  • Thursday - TFT
  • Friday - Women's League of Legends

You will work with the Marketing and Product teams and report to the Creative Director (Sunkern) plus the relevant product manager. Our main method of communication is Discord and you will be expected to stay in regular contact.

The ideal applicant would be passionate about their game and hungry to improve. You’ll need to be a great team player and an excellent communicator to work alongside the broadcast crew, the product manager and admins to produce a top-quality show that will be on the frontpage of Twitch. Whilst experience is not necessary, having buckets of enthusiasm is.

This an entry/junior-level, contractor position. All of our broadcasts are done remotely. You will be compensated a set amount per broadcast.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing research and notes prior to each broadcast
  • Attending a sound-check 45 minutes before you go live
  • Committing to completing all broadcasts you’re scheduled for
  • Work with other casters, producers, observers, your product manager and admins to deliver a high quality broadcast

Requirements

  • Equipment (microphone & webcam) of a good quality
    • e.g. Rode NT1, AT2020; Logitech HD C920
  • Eagerness to improve (through preparation, VOD reviews, feedback)
  • Exceptional understanding of the game you’re applying for
  • Technical/computer skills
  • Communication skills
  • Work well in a team
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure
