Our Navigator Games team is growing! While continuing to develop our premier mobile RPG, Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, we’ve partnered with Square Enix London Mobile to bring Avatar: the Last Airbender to the mobile universe! We are looking to expand upon our existing talent to bring stylized worlds and characters to life through immersive gameplay.

In response to the preventative measures to reduce risk of COVID-19, our team is currently working 100% remote. When we resume normal business operations, we have opportunities for employees to work in the office or continue to work remotely in Canada.

THE POSITION:

We are looking for a Sr 3D Environment Artist that can drive the creation of environments for our next game. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the craft and starting from concept holistically create everything that will make up the final scene; from modeling, surfacing, lighting, scene assembly and optimization.

This is a full time permanent position with benefits. Our Vancouver Studio is located downtown at 1220 - 1095 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 2M6.

WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS:

  • Create engaging and exciting 3D environments and props with strong visual composition
  • Demonstrate self-directed proficiency in environmental, organic and hard surface modeling and surfacing techniques with a focus on stylized content.
  • Work closely with the art and design team to ensure all game environments adhere to concept designs and branding guidelines.
  • Submit work in progress for regular review and incorporate feedback in revisions.
  • Clearly document workflows that will be used by internal and external teams, experience with Jira and Confluence a plus.
  • Provide asset lists, breakdowns, delivery specifications and time estimates to a project manager to help ensure external assets arrive on-time, at expected quality.
  • Evaluate outsourced assets as they are delivered to make sure they meet quality standards in conjunction with the Art Director. Integrate outsourced assets into environments as needed.
  • Participate in production and art team meetings, brainstorming, art reviews, critiques;
  • Keep up to date on the latest industry standard tools, workflows, and techniques;
  • Deliver artwork and elements within deadlines set by production.

HOW WE'LL KNOW YOU'RE A FIT FOR THE JOB:

  • 4+ years experience as an environment artist in the video game industry
  • Post secondary education in art, animation or a related field
  • Excellent understanding of light, shade, color, and detail when creating game materials, models and final scenes.
  • Experience and passion for stylized game art.
  • Experience in Unity an asset
  • Self-motivated, collaborative attitude in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
