Join us in the Gaming Ecosystem Organization (GEO) and be part of our mission to empower game creators to realize their dreams by delivering the world’s best tools and services, from Xbox to Azure. The Gaming Developer Experiences team within GEO is looking for an engineering lead to run one of our teams focused on rich client developer tools and Gaming SDK (GDK) installation. These are some of our flagship productivity tools, key to the workflows of top game creators.

To push ever higher with great interactive content, today’s game studios need rich and flexible tools that give them full control over every stage of game development. You will help craft the developer tools that empower game creators to develop, build, measure and perfect amazing games for console, desktop, and cloud. You will also get to work closely with industry leaders across hardware, software, and services, and with game studios and middleware providers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4-6 software engineers
  • Design, build, test, debug, and ship high-quality developer tools to game creator customers
  • Drive architecture and infrastructure direction to set the team up for sustained success
  • Collaborate with and drive positive relationships with game studios and technology partners
  • Solve complex problems that allow for innovative features across multiple devices and services
  • Be a role model and active participant in a community of creativity, inclusion, and respect

Qualifications

Required:

  • A love of leading people and building incredible teams
  • 7+ years professional experience delivering quality software
  • 5+ years professional coding experience in C# or C/C++
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience building positive partnerships between teams
  • Able to resolve ambiguity and respond to rapid change
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, threading, synchronization

Preferred:

  • Experience with application user experience (UX) development
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
