Job Summary
The Part-Time eSports Coach is responsible for recruiting and coaching e Sports student-athletes. This position works significantly with the student-athletes and department director as well as with admissions, financial aid staff and other campus employees.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Recruits and retains students for the eSports program
- Conducts coaching and instruction activities during training, practice and competition
- Coordinates off-season, practice and competition schedules
- Assists with team travel when necessary
- Oversees camps, clinics, and promotional events
- Pursues sponsorship opportunities within the eSports business world
- Ensures team compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations
- Ensures that student-athlete and staff behavior, as well as program reputation, are in alignment with the institution values and mission
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience in a competitive eSports environment or related coaching and teaching experience in an educational setting
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goaIs and objectives, policies and procedures
- Experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and expert knowledge of League of Legends, Overwatch, or similar games
- Ability to demonstrate a vision for a collegiate eSports program at MDC
- Experience coaching or playing in collegiate eSports program preferred
- Experience in recruiting preferred
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, students, and general public
- Fundamental knowledge of PC Software and Gaming Hardware
- Ability to travel for tournaments and competitions
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
- Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
