Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora™ is a first-person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft studio in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney. Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open-world experience.

As a Game Designer at Massive, you'll join our Player, Weapons, and Tools team. You'll focus on the players moment to moment experience: their weapons, tools, abilities, and the 3C's: Control, Character, and Camera. This includes work on next-gen haptics. You'll be supported by a Lead Game Designer, Associate Producer, and primarily collaborate with fellow Game Designers, and a cross-disciplined Task Force (design, code, animation & art) all focused on the player experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Defining and communicating game mechanics through documentation and presentation;
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to guide mechanics from start to finish;
  • Contributing to the development of both combat and non-combat experiences;
  • Setting up, implementing, and continually iterating on game mechanics, using tools you’ll be responsible for helping shape;
  • Sharing your knowledge with the team and peer-reviewing;
  • Playtesting, analyzing, and iterating on systems and features relating to the player.

You're passionate about games, “game feel”, player experience, and the underlying systems that give rise to it. You're proactive and offer creative solutions in the pursuit of your goals. You're comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team, contributing your expertise to achieve the highest quality possible. You have high standards in everything you do and a devotion to creating the best possible player experience.

Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with AAA game development, preferably with one or more shipped titles;
  • Able to implement in-engine and write clear game design documents;
  • Experience within visual scripting
  • Familiar with game engines; such as Unreal 4, Snowdrop, & Unity, etc.
  • Able to break down and explain various design processes to a wide audience.
