Kluge Interactive is an immersive game studio building the future of human connection through immersive and enhanced experiences. We are best known for Synth Riders, one of the most popular VR rhythm games.

We’re currently working on several new VR titles and developing games for a UGC social platform, collaborating with some of the world’s most influential VR, music, and technology companies.

The Role

We are looking for a Systems Designer to join our team working on Horizon Worlds, Meta’s UGC-powered platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and prototyping gameplay features directly within Horizon Worlds — including scripting, building environments, and tuning mechanics.

You’ll work closely with a cross-functional team to bring new game ideas to life, help implement live service updates, and ensure content is both fun and technically sound. You’ll need a good grasp of game design principles and the technical confidence to execute ideas hands-on. This is an ideal position for a designer with a generalist mindset, comfortable jumping between systems design, level building, and scripting logic.

The Team

We're a passionate team of highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic people, diverse creative individuals from all over the world with distinct cultures, backgrounds, and skill sets. We're constantly striving for ultimate quality - both in our games and our company culture and values. Our studio's most cherished asset is our people; our job is to give you the creative freedom, tools, and support to become the best version of yourself!

You’ll be supported by creative leadership and a team of game designers. You will also work closely with a cross-functional team that involves developers, artists, sound designers, creative writers, and producers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Solid understanding of game design theory and its application to systems and content

  • Strong prototyping skills with the ability to quickly test and iterate on gameplay ideas

  • Strong systemic thinking and ability to reason through complex game systems

  • Experience with Horizon Worlds, Roblox or traditional game engines such as Unity and Unreal

  • Basic scripting skills (not limited to visual scripting)

  • Comfortable working hands-on with an engine to place assets, configure variables, and set up logic

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross-disciplinary teams

  • A strong sense of ownership and autonomy in building and iterating on features

Desired Requirements

  • Experience working on live-ops and/or GaaS projects, with familiarity in data-driven design practices

  • Experience designing mobile games

  • A degree in Game Design or a related field is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement gameplay systems and mechanics directly within Horizon Worlds

  • Collaborate with the game design, art, and dev teams to build immersive game worlds and features

  • Build and tune levels, logic systems, and interactions in Horizon Worlds

  • Prototype new ideas and iterate based on feedback and internal playtesting

  • Document and communicate technical designs clearly to cross-functional collaborators

  • Support live service operations with feature improvements, optimizations, and content updates — using data analytics to make informed design decisions

Benefits

  • Contractor rate based on experience

  • Fully remote work and much flexibility - you can work according to your style and schedule

  • Possibility of a full-time position if projects continue

We are an independent studio passionate about making quality games and invested in paving the way for the future of XR. You'll work in a creative and positive working environment with a diverse team of highly experienced and enthusiastic people. Your voice will be valued within the team! A good idea can come from anyone.
