Join our New Games Studio and help build the next generation of King experiences. We’re developing Minecraft Blast, a new casual puzzle adventure set in a playful interpretation of the Minecraft universe — and we’re looking for a Principal Economy & System Designer to define the long-term economy vision, progression frameworks, and meta systems that power a fair, delightful, and enduring player experience.


Your Role Within Our Kingdom

In the context of the Minecraft Blast team, you will be the domain authority for economy, progression, and meta systems. You will partner closely with Creative Leadership and cross-functional peers to shape how players engage over time, ensuring our systems feel distinctly Minecraft and appropriate for casual mobile.
 

· Set the strategy and standards for Minecraft Blast’s economy and meta: define the holistic model across currencies, sources/sinks, reward cadences, and progression scaffolding from soft launch through scale.

· Build robust models and simulations to forecast player behaviour and feature impact; establish guardrails for economic health (for example, inflation bounds, reward debt, pacing thresholds).

· Own the live tuning rhythm: define KPIs and alerting, diagnose deviations, and lead corrective actions across events, offers, and progression beats.

· Incubate and validate new systems (events, meta features, monetisation mechanics) with clear hypotheses, success metrics, experiment designs, and rollout plans.

· Specify telemetry (game data instrumentation) for economy observability; collaborate with Data Science to create dashboards, cohorts, and causal analyses that drive timely, high-quality decisions.

· Align Creative, Product, Engineering, Art, and Analytics around economy intents and trade-offs; communicate clearly with senior leaders and build alignment on proposals, risks, and expected outcomes.

· Lead deep competitive deconstructions and translate trends into actionable opportunities tailored to Minecraft Blast’s positioning.

· Mentor and review work of other designers; contribute playbooks, templates, and best practices to King’s economy design community.

What you’ll need

- Proven expertise designing, tuning, and operating casual mobile free-to-play economies at scale, spanning production and live operations.

· Strategic systems thinking with experience defining economy vision and multi-release roadmaps.

· Advanced analytical fluency: expert spreadsheet/modelling skills, simulation and sensitivity analysis, experiment design, and interpreting complex behavioural data.

· Strong product judgement and decision quality under uncertainty; balances player trust, retention, and revenue with clear principles.

· Cross-functional leadership and influence without authority; experienced at resolving trade-offs across creative, product, business, and technical perspectives.

· Excellent communication: exec-ready narratives, clear documentation, and visual storytelling that drive consensus.

· Planning and execution excellence: able to structure and deliver complex initiatives, establish operating rhythms, and land outcomes predictably.

· Passion for casual mobile games and Minecraft; a player-centric mindset with a track record of creating fair, delightful experiences.
 

It’s great if you have

· Experience defining telemetry requirements and partnering with Data Science on observability and insights.

· Published playbooks or reusable frameworks for event economies, offer ladders (pricing and packaging progression), and progression pacing.

· Experience mentoring other designers and raising craft standards across teams.
