We are looking for a Studio Art Director to join Kabam Vancouver. In this role, you will work directly with our Art Directors and associated art teams to support the creation of the most engaging and rewarding product and visual experience for our players. You will need to be comfortable working within an established art style of licensed IP as well as developing original art styles for new games in the future.

You will contribute by:

  • Ensuring unified visual quality of assets and presentation across all games from the Vancouver studio
  • Representing the needs and desires of studio artists across art disciplines in process, tools, and planning discussions at the studio level
  • Ensuring consistent and effective creation, maintenance and enforcement of the style guides and asset pipelines
  • Interacting with developers of all disciplines, guiding and organizing the efforts of a team of artists across multiple areas and multiple projects to ensure that artists and art teams are working effectively with their development partners
  • Mentoring, assessing skills and gaps, and coordinating artist assignments to projects in collaboration with the Studio General Manager, Executive Producers, Art Directors and the RMO group
  • Establishing lightweight and effective best practices to ensure quality, consistency and timeliness of execution
  • Driving the process to establish visual look development and feel for new products
  • Mentoring and growing the project Art Directors’ skills and overall career path
  • Recruiting and onboarding project Art Directors
  • Providing art direction at the project level as needed

Your background includes:

  • 10+ years working in the gaming industry, with multiple high quality AAA products under your belt, and at least one cycle in mobile gaming, with experience establishing art guidelines and vision for projects
  • Proven track record of shipping high-quality games in a role where you were responsible for guiding artists, critiquing their work, and mentoring them, within a cross-disciplinary leads team
  • An excellent eye for detail and proven expertise in carrying an art style over multiple products
  • Experience working with high-profile entertainment brands and IPs
  • Excellent skills at identifying existing visual styles, and ability to utilize them
  • Highly collaborative with experience leading through influence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively present and share information across the organization
