Jagex is looking for a Senior Technical Designer to help us undertake the exciting challenge of building a brand new, AAA massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be instrumental in shaping the future of MMORPGs from the ground-up, at the forefront of Unreal Engine 5 development. You will be responsible for crafting exciting and engaging gameplay features, systems and mechanics in a living online world through collaborative design, implementation, iteration and balance.

You are:

You will:

  • Bridge the gap between design and engineering, supporting development through effective use of content creation tools and pipelines.
  • Work hands on in Unreal Engine to prototype, create and iterate on a wide range of gameplay features and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers to identify and implement improvements to game and level design pipelines and processes.
  • Work with the rest of the design team to establish, champion and apply best practices and guidelines for level and game design.
  • Provide feedback, mentoring and coaching for other technical designers.
  • Take ownership of large features and systems and work closely with all other relevant disciplines to drive them forward to delivery.

You have:

  • Professional experience shipping UE4 game(s) as a technical designer through all phases of development.
  • Relevant experience using scripting languages (typed or visual) to build gameplay features.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in designing and building multiplayer gameplay features.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with mobile development.
  • Experience with 3Cs and combat.
  • Experience working on MMO game(s).
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior developers.
  • Good understanding of C++ and/or C#.
