Job Purpose
orking as part of a passionate and cross-disciplinary agile game team, you will be integral to the development and delivery of the Old School RuneScape product roadmap. You will be working closely with our game developers on modernising our existing technology stack and on larger initiatives to bring the game to new platforms and audiences.
We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate developers with an attitude to learn, collaborate, aspire, continuously improve, and thoroughly enjoy what they do on a highly successful MMO. If this sounds like you, and you are up for the challenge, then we would love to talk to you.
Key duties:
- Programming using C++ (11/14), Java and other languages as required
- Researching and developing ways to take our game to new platforms and audiences
- Maintaining and evolving the current client engine architecture powering Old School RuneScape
- Contributing to overall project strategy, being willing to put forward ideas, and to positively critique those put forward by others
Essential Requirements:
- Extremely proficient with C++
- Experience working as a programmer across the full software development life cycle
- A passion for innovating solutions and solving problems in a unique technology stack
- Ability to work well in a team and with others, good communication skills are essential
- Relevant qualification at degree level or equivalent experience
Even better if:
- Game industry experience working on cross-platform games, including console/handheld platform development
- Experience working on large-scale MMO games
- Comfortable working in other programming languages such as Java where it suits the situation
- Familiarity with CMake or similar build tools
- Interest and experience in graphics programming
