Jagex are looking for an associate technical director to take the lead in developing the next iteration of OSRS content creation. You will take the rains of strategy and direction for improving our content creation pipeline, working with our designers, tools engineers, engine engineers and others to improve time to market, and get new stories and experiences out to our players.

What you'll be doing:

Strategy:

  • Help identify and create the technical vision for Old School RuneScape.

  • Be accountable for executing the vision.

  • Oversee the present and future technology projects, tools, people pipeline and development methodologies.

Leadership:

  • As part of product leadership, build a high-performance team with a culture of fast delivery and data-driven iteration.

  • Challenge and raise the technical skill level of staff in the team.

  • Assist in creating a technical people pipeline that is in line with the needs of the studio alongside the Technical Director and product leadership.

  • Identify and mentor top talent within the team to broader roles and greater responsibility.

  • Guide the technical staffing & development of new technical projects.

  • Help develop clear and concise job descriptions and identify career paths.

What you'll need:

Projects:

  • Strong ability to review and improve processes and pipelines.

  • Able to identify areas of technical improvement, establish and refine a vision, and work directly with the engineering leadership to implement that vision.

  • Ensure Product, Technical vision and roadmaps are aligned, balancing business value and risk.

Technical guidance:

  • Build, lead, mentor and manage a team of talented engineers and engineering leaders.

  • Collaborate with design, product, analytics, and leadership teams to specify features and development tools.

  • Help build and execute transparent roadmaps, create and deploy best-in-class processes, proactively identify and resolve issues, and innovate in software development.

  • Stay current on cutting-edge research & technologies, recommending new tools & techniques.
