Maze Theory is pushing the boundaries of interactive and immersive character-based story telling within VR. We are seeking an experienced level designer to work in our studio on our upcoming VR project, Peaky Blinders: The Kingโ€™s Ransom.

As a Technical Animator, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of the character pipeline and game performance. Working alongside the animators and the Art Technical Director, you will be supporting the engine and design team in facilitating an efficient production flow from Maya into Unity. Your technical skill and understanding will be part of helping to craft a believable world where characters come to life. You will be a problem solver and solution finder, with a passion for storytelling and immersive worlds.

As you may be working remotely, you will possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable and experienced working as part of a currently remote based company.

Your responsibilities will include creating and maintaining animation and art pipelines, providing and maintaining detailed clear documentation whilst communicating effectively to the whole team. Creating rigs, tools and processes. Working and supporting the company core tech systems and working with the Art Director, Art Technical Director and programming team.

You will work alongside the animation team and character team in Maya and Unity to develop solutions and tools.

You will share knowledge, tools and experience across the team and company.

We are hoping to find a new team member who has worked within a similar role previously and who has shipped at least one title, ideally VR, as technical artist or animator. We are looking for someone who has proven examples of either C#, Python or Mel. Someone who has demonstrable experience of working with both hand animation and motion capture data and someone who has experience of time costing, strategizing and planning.

Previous experience with Confluence and Jira, or similar systems.

Excellent understanding and use of version control.
