Kickstart is a Government scheme aimed to help support young people back into work after the economic effects of the pandemic. It’s aimed at 16-24-year-olds who are not in education and are currently claiming universal credit.

The junior Unity games programmer would be responsible for a variety of programming tasks related to a portfolio of PanicBarn games in production under the guidance of the programming and production team.

The role would involve designing, implementing, and testing pieces of c# code to complete tasks related to the relevant games.

The role will also involve adding and manipulating assets within the Unity game engine for the games in production. For example, adding in visual assets for levels or UI screens.

All tasks will be managed under the guidance of the senior programming and production team who will determine and track tasks to be worked on daily. The junior unity developer will gain experience in using popular software development tools such as Unity, Git and project management tools such as Trello and Slack.

The successful applicant will have experience in building games software in some format. For example, a personal project, university project, or some kind of demo.

  • As the job is remote, access to a PC/laptop with an internet connection is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, discussing relevant information to relevant team members is critical.
  • Some experience with the software development tool Unity is essential.
  • The role is fully remote with daily ‘standups’ managing the expected tasks for each day.
