ustwo is a London-based software development studio focused on digital design, such as clean and elegant user interfaces. Founded in 2004, the company had initially served clients in supporting their mobile apps, and developed mobile games, but gained significant attention upon release of Monument Valley in 2014, which won numerous awards and had over two million units sold. Alongside their Ustwo Games division, the company continues to produce other software for a range of computing devices through Ustwo Studios, as well as investing in new firms through Ustwo Adventure, and helping to mentor young talent within Ustwo Foundation.

You will learn how to design levels and content on paper and in-engine (using the Unity game engine) under supervision from the senior game design team. They will also learn how to recognise where effort needs to be put to improve a game by observing user test sessions. You will provide creative, imaginative and original solutions to design questions and internalise and represent the design philosophy of the game to other team members. You will also learn how the various disciplines that work together to create a modern computer game interact with each other, as well as the various processes and stages of development and how a game processes through each of them until a product is released.

We operate a hybrid working week, where you will be spending most of their time working independently at home, with occasional in-studio days focused more on collaborative tasks and decision making meetings. You will also be invited to attend weekly discipline specific meetings where all designers from across the whole company gather together to discuss a range of related subject matter.

This role requires someone who has strong communication and design analysis skills.

Experience working in a game engine (Game Maker, Unity, Unreal or other) is required for the candidate.

There are no specific educational requirements, but the ideal candidate will have played tactics games before.
