Insomniac Games is looking for a Dev Support Lead to join our team. As a Dev Support Lead you will be responsible for a Development Support team in one (or more) of the four groups in the department: QA Analysts, Production Support, Core Support, or QA Engineering. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day tasks Oversees test planning and strategy as well as scheduling work for the team and direct reports and owns the quality process for assigned team/project. The role provides a critical component of the studio’s mission to create games that have a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives by helping foster an environment of craft excellence, collaboration, and positivity. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Supervises direct reports on the Development Support team and participates in strategy and decision making as a member of the department's leadership group
  • Meets regularly with team members to offer experienced guidance, provide constructive feedback, conduct performance assessments, facilitate the team’s best work, and ensure adherence to best practices
  • Evaluates team members’ goals and objectives and ensures that department goals are being met
  • Manages the career growth and development of direct reports
  • Helps facilitate equitable work experience across all work settings and time-zones for respective reports
  • Assists with project staffing, hiring, and onboarding
  • Regularly plays games in development and reviews content to provide feedback and help identify opportunities for craft development
  • Advocates for direct reports' individual well-being
  • Builds and maintains relationships with peers and other senior leaders to align project and departmental priorities
  • Advocates for studio cultural values and fosters an environment of craft excellence, collaboration, and inclusion
  • Reviews existing tasks and bugs and maintains Development Support workflows in Jira
  • Determines team priorities and assigns tasks accordingly internally and externally
  • Creates and maintains test cases/plans for implementation and verification of features
  • Oversees maintenance and updating of existing documentation for Development Support
  • Performs support duties as needed, in non-critical/essential spaces
  • Fosters a safe work environment by ensuring all complaints and concerns related to inappropriate or unprofessional conduct in the workplace are addressed immediately
  • Other duties may be assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises assigned Development Support team members.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, input in hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; input in appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Five years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Jira or (other bug tracking system) required
  • Ability to learn the basics of scripting, programming, and other testing tools
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, along with working knowledge of Visual Studio a plus
  • Experience in the video game or entertainment industry is highly preferred
  • Prior experience maintaining and using an ATS systems (preferably Greenhouse) is a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Other Skills:

  • Must possess advanced knowledge of QA practices, the development cycle; bug tracking software
  • Advanced understanding of general game terminology; possess a strong attention to detail; may have prior experience leading others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively delegate
  • Must be able to present ideas clearly and work well within a large team environment, while supporting shifting priorities for the team
