Your Mission
As a Junior Lighting Artist (Temporary), you will join our high-caliber lighting team as we continue to develop the best game experiences in the industry. In this entry level position, you will work alongside and train with experienced IW lighting artists as you focus on the aesthetic and technical implementation of lighting in game levels and cinematics. This is a great opportunity to further develop your skills, help the team, improve your portfolio, and see your work on the market.
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Use your deep passion and proven skills and your strong eye for detail and composition to implement stellar lighting across multiplayer, single player, coop, and warzone maps
- Understand and quickly adapt to new tools, processes, and pipelines
- Learn to identify and submit well documented tickets for any technical code issues
- Collaborate with art directors and art leads in the development of level lighting to establish a compelling, cohesive look
- Contribute creative and original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development
- Work with your team lead to meet training and coaching expectations and assignments
Player Profile
Minimum Requirements:
- Understanding and have experience creating compelling lighting visuals in a real-time engine for consoles or PC (Xbox, PS, PC.)
- Experience with game engine editors (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.)
- Solid understanding of real-time lighting techniques
- Knowledge of Physically Based Rendering methods
- Understanding of camera terminology including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, White Balance, Color temperature, etc.
- Established knowledge of Art skills (e.g. color and color theory, composition, and painting)
- Friendly, helpful, and collaborative in a team-based environment; self-motivated, results-oriented self-starter with a strong artistic vision
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a basic ability to communicate visually utilizing traditional media
- Open to feedback, creative problem solver, and presents a compelling vision
- Strong understanding of FPS gameplay and knowledge of the best-in-class games in the genre
Extra Points:
- Proven ability to produce compelling cinematic sequence visuals through lighting
- Deeper understanding of game engines, tools, pipelines, memory constraints, and development processes
- Understanding of color grading and pbr shader development
- Background in modeling, animation, and/or traditional art or digital matte painting
- Physically based rendering terms and methodology
- Experience in HDR photography
- Proficiently in programming or scripting languages
