Summary: Imangi Studios is looking for a talented Game Designer to join the Temple Run game development team in Raleigh, NC.

The Game Designer will be responsible for designing the core elements of new and existing games, which are then communicated to the development team for art asset and gameplay code creation. During development, this position may make adjustments to the original design based on technical constraints. The Game Designer then relays final product expectations to QA for thorough testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Devises innovative, fun, and engaging gameplay mechanics within a defined budget and timescale.
  • Adheres to the creative vision of his or her assigned products; effectively enacting designs to enhance that product's vision.
  • Incorporates the project lead's strategic intentions for the product and work towards achieving them.
  • Facilitates communication for feature and system development between Design, Engineering, Art and QA.
  • Documents designs in an efficient and effective manner that clearly communicates design intent.
  • Crafts user stories with clear and concise acceptance criteria to aid in the tasking of other departments.
  • Understand player needs and ensure that feature development will contribute to player satisfaction and enjoyment.
  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to gameplay data and user feedback for designs throughout their entire lifecycle (from development to testing to live-ops).
  • Balance in-game economies to optimize player engagement and increase retention.
  • Consistently validate the coherence and quality of the game(s).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in game design preferred
  • 3-5 years of game design in a creative role
  • At least 1 shipped title preferred
  • Solid understanding of Free2Play mechanics, user interfaces, user experiences, general game development, and working in a live product environment
  • Excellent skills in communicating expectations to the rest of the development team
  • Ability to estimate and execute design plans in complex situations
  • Strong creative identity, imagination, and holistic game design skills

Preferred Additional Experience:

  • Experience designing endless runner gameplay systems and thorough understanding of what makes them fun.
  • Experience balancing procedurally driven gameplay experiences.
