ABOUT OUR COMPANY

Hitmarker is the largest job platform in the video game industry.

Much more than that, though, it’s a team of dedicated people from all around the globe working hard every day to try and make our industry a better, more inclusive place.

If this sounds like something you’d love to be a part of, we’d love to have you join us!

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Are you the Community & Marketing Coordinator we’re looking for to help take our community efforts to the next level?

The successful candidate will work closely with our Head of Community & Marketing across Twitter, LinkedIn, Discord, and more, to bring value to our community.

The perfect candidate is likely a gamer and existing Hitmarker user who is a strong written communicator, tech-savvy, and aspires to have a career in community management.

This opportunity is open to anyone anywhere in the world, but small preference will be given to those in the UK aged between 16 and 24 who are currently in receipt of Universal Credit and not in education (i.e. eligible for the UK government's "Kickstart Scheme"), as this would allow us to hire someone as a part-time employee, rather than independent contractor, at the maximum stated hours.

No formal qualifications are required to apply, though conscientiousness, dedication, and honesty are all imperative.

The pay on offer is £9.90 per hour for 3-5 hours per day (15-25 hours per week). The hours worked will be flexible and you will be classed as an independent contractor if you are not Kickstart-eligible, at least initially.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll help us take our community-driven efforts to the next level by:

  • Helping to manage our Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.
    • Abiding by our newly-established “tone of voice”.
    • Scheduling job posts, career advice content, memes, and more.
    • Engaging with community members and relevant brands daily.
    • Working with our Head of Community & Marketing to ideate new content.
  • Leading the discourse in our Discord and keeping the server active.
    • Starting interesting conversations.
    • Engaging meaningfully with ongoing conversations.
    • Answering support tickets.
  • Reporting all community feedback to the relevant teams.

WHO YOU ARE

We’re not looking for professional experience or qualifications, just a specific type of person. You should be:

  • A gamer. You don’t need to play a specific title on a particular device. You don’t need to be any good. You just need to love gaming and care about this industry.
  • A Hitmarker user. Familiarity with our platform and existing community efforts would be a really big help, especially in your early days with us.
  • Tech-savvy. We’re a video game company, but we’re providing software as a service. You’re going to be using multiple external web applications in this role.
  • A communicator. You can get your point across clearly, concisely, and politely, whether you’re writing, talking on a video call, or speaking to someone face-to-face.
  • Organised. You keep track of stuff. That might mean you make lists, it might mean you use a specific productivity app, but you always come prepared and informed.
  • Willing to learn. We’re not expecting to hire the finished product for this position. If you’re willing to listen and learn, we’re very willing to teach and train you.
  • Dedicated. For your contracted hours, you come ready to go. We don’t expect you to live and breathe Hitmarker, we just want you to care when you’re on the clock.
  • Honest. If you’ve got a problem, you’re not afraid to air it. If you can’t do something, you’re open about it. If you need help with something, you ask for it.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

We’re an accredited Living Wage employer and we offer the “real” living wage to everyone, not just our full-time employees based in the UK. This means you’ll get:

  • £9.90 per hour for 3-5 hours per day (15-25 hours per week), initially, no matter where you’re based.
  • Flexibility over your contract type, if you're in the UK, with both freelance (independent contractor) and part-time (employee) available to you initially.

  • Increased hours and/or a potential full-time, permanent role with us if you perform well.

HOW TO APPLY

Apply via GoHire only with (1) a short, tailored cover letter that tells us (a) why you want to join our team and (b) why we should hire you, plus (2) the latest version of your CV/resume before 11:59 p.m. (BST) on Monday 31st January 2022. We’ll then contact all candidates in the first week of February.

AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

If you’re eligible and feel like you'd excel in this position, please don’t talk yourself out of applying. We don’t care what your age, gender, nationality, skin colour, disability, sexual orientation, or religion is. Join us and help us build a better, more diverse Hitmarker and a better, more diverse video game industry.
