Come be a part of gaming history! Hardsuit Labs is looking for a highly talented, motivated, and creative Senior Lighting Artist to join them in working on one of the largest AAA game franchises in the world. Join a world-class group of artists and designers, bringing your talents to bear working on games that will be played by millions. As a member of the Hardsuit Labs art team, you will be responsible for lighting single and multiplayer environments, as well as aiding in the artistic development of an unannounced project.

What You Will Be Doing (Responsibilities):

  • Work closely with the Lighting Supervisor to understand and deliver the developer's sense of vision for the look of the game title.
  • Create static and dynamic environmental lighting using a cutting-edge proprietary game engine.
  • Work closely with developers to understand the proprietary engine's workflows.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the game's design to support communication and allow better discussions.
  • Collaborate with others including Art Direction, Level Designers, Environment Artists, Visual Effects Artists, Engineering and Team Lead to deliver quality lit scenes for compelling game environments.
  • Produce high-end visuals within memory constraints and performance guidelines.
  • Have the capacity to be self-sufficient and solve technical issues that arise during the level lighting process.
  • Actively develop and improve skill set and abilities by keeping aware of industry trends and techniques, evaluating competitive products, and learning new software packages and traditional art methods.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and prioritization skills by collaborating with the Production group to develop task lists, ensuring assignments are progressing according to schedules, milestones, and overall project goals.

What You Will Bring (Qualifications & Experience):

  • 5+ years' industry or related experience.
  • Experience shipping AAA-published titles with current-gen game engines.
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting production pipelines, tools, and systems associated with traditional, software rendering and game lighting.
  • A highly refined understanding of the process of creating photo-realistic lighting including lighting theory and ratios, lenses, and post-processing for lens effects.
  • Strong technical abilities including knowledge of PBR systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to understand complex systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of Maya.
  • Unreal or Unity experience highly desirable.
  • Realistic environment layout.
  • Strong technical skills for debugging complex lighting problems and monitoring performance.

Nice to Haves:

  • 4-year degree.
  • Knowledge in Python scripting, C++.
  • Knowledge of photography principles and image correction techniques.
