Guild’s Director of Marketing & Brand is an integral member of the leadership team, responsible for driving and implementing Guild’s strategic and tactical marketing efforts. The Director of Marketing & Brand is a natural storyteller, skillfully positioning Guild as a leader and disruptor in the esports industry with their ability to articulate our brand and vision through innovative, engaging content, creative launches and uncanny ability to connect to our target market. As a strategic and tactical partner, the Director of Marketing & Brand thrives in a role where they are both a visionary and the doer, taking ideas from concept to execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning

  • Build and execute the product go-to-market strategy, plan and lead product launches, set competitive positioning.
  • Deliver industry, product and market insights to support product positioning, campaign development, and company strategic growth.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop strategies to build sales and brand credibility within multiple markets and sales channels.
  • Strategise campaigns and communication methods to attract and retain new followers and players.
  • Carry out market research to keep up to date on current trends and predict future trends.
  • Monitor and inform the CEO and executive team of day-to-day operations and progress toward strategic marketing KPIs/goals.

Branding

  • Oversee and execute on all branding and image development related efforts at Guild, troubleshooting and problem-solving as required.
  • Develop a brand strategy that aligns with Guild’s strategic trajectory, including the setting of style and brand vision, and value proposition for short and long term.
  • Develop style guide for internal team members to use to ensure image consistency.

Marketing

  • Oversee and execute on all marketing related efforts at Guild, troubleshooting and problem-solving as required.
  • Analyse and optimize marketing campaigns to drive success.
  • Analyse sales data to identify business growth opportunities and adapt strategy as needed.
  • Create product launches that position Guild as an industry disruptor, while grabbing the attention of our market.
  • Manage the day-to-day marketing support and initiatives for Guild, working closely with the Director of Apparel to ensure brand and image consistency across all apparel/merchandise.
  • Manage Guild’s website and social media to ensure brand and image consistency across multiple platforms, including Twitch and YouTube, working closely with the relevant external social/digital agencies.
  • Support the project team and work closely with the development team to drive new features, draft product copy.
  • Execute product campaigns from start to finish, acting as copywriter, designer, and social media marketer.
  • Enable and support sales and customer success teams, producing effective and impactful collateral and messaging.
  • Build, manage, and execute on Guild’s content framework, including copy documentation, style guide, and social guidelines as well as content development.

Communications & Relationship-Building

  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, vendors and suppliers.
  • Manage partnerships with vendors, leveraging relationships with multiple third party marcomms agencies
  • Direct partner marketing, maximizing sponsors’ promotional efforts and driving strategic cross-promotion efforts.
  • Assess the community’s pulse to understand community concerns, and communicate back community status to internal development partners.
  • Build relationships with key gaming/esports leaders and influencers
  • Manage and deliver on Guild’s PR and Communications strategy, including:
  • Monitoring, listening to and engaging with all community members via multiple channels (email, fan club, etc.)
  • Writing and distributing press releases to generate positive attention (managing external PR agencies as required)
  • Writing and publishing news and blog articles, specifically to establish gravitas and credibility of the senior management team and Guild the business in key trade/industry media outlets, LinkedIn and other channels of influence.

General

  • Manage the budget for marketing activities.
  • Other duties as may be required and assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years’ directly related experience in a design and marketing role.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and/or Business Administration related field.
  • Deep understanding of Guild as an organization, of the esports marketplace and of direct competitors.
  • Proven experience building and managing new fanbases/communities
  • Authentic, highly creative and adaptable.
  • Able to think strategically and engage tactically, with an analytical, data-driven mindset
  • Skilled in organizational development, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
  • Passion for gaming.
