Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in technical leadership, leading project teams, and setting technical direction.
  • Experience architecting and developing large scale distributed systems design.
  • Experience programming in at least one: C++, Java, JavaScript

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science.
  • Experience working closely with remote, and multi time-zone, teams.
  • Experience with developing consumer electronics products.
  • Game developer experience, shipped one/more title with Gameplay features and/or tooling.
  • Experience with any of the following: Embedded systems (embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, or similar), Audio/video codecs and streaming, Network programming, Machine learning, esp. relating to computer vision, image analysis models, Graphics pipelines, 3D graphics, and modern game engines, Real-time communication protocols

The Stadia Playability team continues to deliver on this promise with a mandate that encompasses industry-leading media aware rate adaptation and congestion control, innovative audio and video encoding, deep game integration adapted to the unique dynamic nature of Stadia's runtime, high quality and high performance streaming clients across Web, Living Room and Mobile, and finally cutting edge simulation and analytics to drive evolution of the core of Stadia's media streaming infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and land critical parts of the Stadia Playability team's mandate with a focus on high quality for end-users and game developers.
  • Deliver game developer tools and APIs that enable external and internal developers to deliver the highest quality gameplay experience on Stadia.
  • Enable evolution of the fundamental streaming platform, improve its performance and predictability, and reduce friction for Stadia players and game developers.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with scope-adjacent teams within Stadia and across Google as well as with Stadia partners.
  • Lead a small, high-performing team in Munich.
