The Gearbox localization team is looking for an Associate Localization Specialist to provide development support for internal teams as well as external partners in the UK, Asia, and Las Vegas. We’re looking for someone with a strong attention to detail as well as consistency in execution.
Responsibilities:
- Hand-on coordination of localized assets and the implementation of those assets into a game engine
- Transcription of recorded audio for a range of purposes
- Fixing localization bugs
- Aiding external translators, especially through investigation of context for localized strings
- Other localization-related tasks as needed / directed
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to track many moving parts
- Awareness of other cultures and familiarity with how culture and region can affect the translation process
- Good problem solving skills
- Comfortable familiarity with Sublime, Eclipse, or similar developmental tools and text editors
- Experience with issue tracking software, ideally JIRA and other Atlassian products
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of non-English languages or language mechanics
- Strong skills with English language and grammar
- Familiarity with RegEx and/orBatch
- Familiarity with comparison tools, such as BeyondCompare
- Familiarity with other dev tools, such as Perforce, Microsoft Office, Unreal Engine
- Knowledge of ISO culture codes
- Knowledge of base-level idiosyncrasies of Latin, Cyrillic, and ideographic languages
