Job Description

The selected candidate will play an active role in establishing new technologies within Gameloft’s Localization department in consultation with the Localization Technology Coordinator and Localization QA Coordinator, developing tools and scripts, providing daily support to Project Coordinators and driving constant optimization of localization processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing custom solutions, scripts and middleware
  • Developing, streamlining and automating localization processes and workflows
  • Performing triage of and troubleshooting localization technology issues
  • Supporting the development of technical documentation and in-house training
  • Providing online and offline support to project coordinators and internal/external linguists and stakeholders
  • Consulting with internal teams and third-party developers on technical solutions
  • Supporting the management and maintenance of the department’s localization-technology infrastructure
  • Supporting the preparation of project deliverables and deploying pseudo- and machine-translation solutions
  • Promoting localization-friendly formats, translation requirements, and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Reviewing, adopting and introducing new translation technologies
  • Exploring the department's continued development and scalable expansion

Qualifications

Experience And Qualifications

  • University degree in localization, computer science or equivalent background
  • At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in localization, software development or related experience
  • Knowledge of computer languages (VB, VBA, C#), scripting (Python, Perl, JavaScript), markup languages (XML, HTML, XSLT), loc-friendly file formats (PO gettext, JSON, CSV), exchange formats (XLIFF, TMX, TBX)—confidence with API programming is welcome
  • Knowledge of translation environment tools, specifically memoQ server
  • Knowledge of business management systems for the language industry (such as Plunet, FlowFit, XTRF) is welcome
  • Knowledge of complex regular expressions and text-string processing
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Excel), familiarity with bug-tracking software (e.g. Jira) and character encoding (e.g. Unicode, UTF-8, ANSI, ASCII, etc.)
  • Knowledge of multilingual localization issues and procedures (managing character sets and encoding, text direction, text-string sorting and handling)
  • Knowledge of version control systems (such as Git and SVN) and content management systems
  • Knowledge of game engines (such as Unity and Unreal Engine 4)
  • Knowledge of machine translation is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and French
