Job Description

Gameloft’s audio department is looking for a sound designer! Come join our team of highly qualified professionals, and take part in ambitious projects within a collaborative, respectful working environment.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the audio manager and the audio director, and in collaboration with the relevant parties involved in the creation of our games, the sound designer’s responsibilities include:

  • Creating and implementing a game's sound effects
  • Generating a list of the sound effects needed for a game
  • Contributing ideas and opinions to help establish a game's sound identity
  • Collaborating with team members (composers, mixers, etc.) to create a cohesive sound experience
  • Communicating regularly with the various parties involved in the project, such as the game’s audio and production teams

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of audio-creation and -editing software, such as REAPER, Pro Tools, Audition, SpectraLayers, etc.
  • Knowledge of the technical constraints related to video-game sound and audio formats: compression formats, storage and memory management, etc.
  • Knowledge and mastery of audio middleware in general, and Wwise in particular
  • Ability to create and edit original sounds using sound banks, synthesis, and personal recordings
  • Good knowledge of the sound-effect libraries available on the market (Sound Ideas, The Hollywood Edge, and others)
  • Good command of sound recording techniques
  • Familiarity with engine-based audio integration processes, such as in Unreal or Unity, is an asset. We are preferably looking for a sound designer who knows how to write audio script in Unity.

Profile

  • You preferably have a diploma in sound design
  • You have from 0 to 2 years of professional experience as a sound designer at a video game company, and have published at least one major title
  • You are a longtime player of console games and have a good understanding of current audio-quality standards
  • You like to work as part of a team, you’re creative and very thorough, and have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • You know how to prioritize work based on constraints and are able to juggle several projects at a time
  • You are receptive to constructive criticism and are comfortable in a collaborative work environment

Offered salary : Between 47 000$ and 65 000$
