Job Description
Join our talented team as we embark on an uncharted gaming adventure! We're on the lookout for a Senior Technical Game Designer to contribute their skills to our Dungeons & Dragons® PC/console project. This innovative game will blend action-RPG/survival features with the unique elements of life-simulation games to redefine the genre and capture the imaginations of players worldwide.
The Senior Technical Game Designer is responsible for supporting the Design team. This person is in charge of script creation, data integration and prototype production and is often called upon to complete various concurrent tasks, always with the necessary thoroughness. The Senior Technical Game Designer bridges the gaps between the team and the various professionals who work on a video game. Relying on their mastery of development tools, they actively contribute towards realizing the game's vision in addition to providing support to various team members.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Act as technical expert for all design issues by resolving problems and offering your support and guidance to team members
Act as the first contact person for all technical issues related to game design and be able to determine if an element can be handled in the script or in the code by the Programming team
Continuously evaluate game designs, characteristics, and pipelines; and identify risks and find systemic improvements
Communicate with various technical departments to improve tools and systems with the aim of making the Design team more efficient
Update the resource databases of game systems
Work with other technical designers on best practices and training material for the Design teams
Collaborate with programmers to decide how to implement features and define the elements that should be data-driven and those that should not
Contribute to work planning based on the scope of each task to establish a compromise between quality objectives and delivery restrictions (time, cost, resources, etc.)
Identify needs in terms of improvements to tools and methods, work with programmers on implementation issues, and ensure smooth deployment with the Production team
Define the technical needs of the team; understand and communicate in concrete terms the needs of the team, which are often abstract and loosely defined
Qualifications
At least 7 years’ experience
Expertise in various scripting languages, such as C#, Lua, or Visual Scripting
Strong knowledge of game engines (e.g.: Unity, Unreal, etc.)
Hands-on experience with navigation meshes
Proactive and shows initiative
Responsible
Reliable and thorough
Strong work ethic
Excellent communication skills within a team
Ability to make good decisions based on production phases
