We are seeking a Backend Engineer to immediately join our team, in order to lead the deployment of our first products, and support our first B2B customers. Our backend services must scale-out to serve high user traffic every day, and so must be developed with the highest quality that the gaming industry requires. Our applications are developed using several technologies and programming languages (Golang, Javascript, Kubernetes, AWS etc…), so you should not be afraid to work with our existing code, extend, maintain and continuously refactor our backend services. We love CI.

Role Description
- Create and maintain a scalable deployment solution for a multi-application ecosystem.
- Collaborate with both internal and external UI/backend engineers to shape and define API contracts.
- Design and implement data models/schemas in the data access layer
- Use the latest cloud, automation, continuous integration, monitoring, and container technologies.
- Develop and maintain automated build and continuous integration systems
- Ensure the smooth operation of and participate in emergency response situations for outages in our infrastructure.
- Design and implement unit testable code that is highly maintainable
- Assess our current development and deployment processes, design and document architecture and migration plans, and ensure our team successfully implements
- Communicate and suggest new ideas and designs in both written and verbal formats

What we’re looking for?
A seasoned developer capable of building robust, secure and efficient environments. You are knowledgeable about, and have familiarity with, a wide variety of front-end and back-end technologies. You’re a motivated, self-starter who can power through ambiguity and work independently to achieve results. You’re a collaborative team player who rolls up their sleeves, responds quickly and decisively, is flexible and open to change, and is able to productively work with the team to achieve company objectives. You thrive in the fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment inherent to a high-growth technology company like Freeverse.
- 3+ years hands-on experience in coding and backend software development with at least one of these: Golang/C++/Rust, at least 1 year of which is with Golang.
- Linux.
- Containers with Docker.
- Familiarity with the latest cloud, automation, continuous integration, monitoring.
- Experience designing API's with Test Driven Development, or understand its importance.
- Maximal autonomy, with a critical thinking mindset, capable of constructively arguing about your view on how something should be done.
- An “appreciate first” attitude to team-work – always providing honest feedback, while assuming that everyone is doing their best.
Not mandatory, but valued as plus:
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience integrating APIs for payment systems.
- Knowledge of blockchain development.
- Knowledge of the games industry backend workflows.
- Experience building MVP's with future improvements in mind, and not being afraid to move forward with existing deficiencies to be improved later.
