THE ROLE
We're looking for a Lead Character Technical Artist to support the development team technically and artistically on a dark, story-driven next generation 'Narrative Adventure' with genre defining goals.
This huge, highly ambitious partnership project takes atmosphere, storytelling, player agency and narrative firmly into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.
This is an ambitious, AAA project with a heavy focus on art, animation and delivering unique character performances to heighten player presence and immersion to new levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Art Director, Technical Art Director and Core Technology Team to create and maintain documentation standards and practices for tools, pipelines, and technical specifications
- Identify and develop necessary art tool chains and documentation
- Develop a positive and energetic team culture
- Bring your own experience of best working practices to the team
- Identify shortfalls in skills and support ongoing recruitment efforts to grow the Technical Artist team
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience as a Lead Character Technical Artist, or similar role, on at least one shipped PC or console title
- Proven Maya scripting skills (Python) with examples
- Thorough understanding of UE material graphs, profiling an advantage
- Proven understanding of character/anisotropic shading setup (hair, skin, eyes, subsurface etc)
- Proven knowledge of character material integration (wrinkle maps, driven keys, etc)
- Strong understanding of UE character pipeline (LOD setup, AnimGraph, blend spaces)
- Proven UE Editor skills
- Excellent knowledge of Maya
- Experience with people management, skills development, and mentoring
ADDITIONAL OR DESIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of HLSL
- Knowledge of updating render pipelines
- Animation and rigging skills
- Console development experience
