Started by former Xbox game designer Elan Lee and The Oatmeal’s founder Matt Inman, Exploding Kittens and its family of games recreates game night for a humorous and fun person-to-person experience. Today, there are over a dozen games and expansions available for purchase: Exploding Kittens, Bears vs Babies, You’ve Got Crabs, Throw Throw Burrito, On a Scale of One to T-Rex, Poetry for Neanderthals A Game of Cat & Mouth, Tacocat Spelled Backwards, A Little Wordy, as well as mobile app games Kitty Letter and Exploding Kittens, one of the top 30 premium games on both iOS and Android.

The Digital team at Exploding Kittens is responsible for bringing Exploding Kittens games and IP to the video games space. We are looking to hire a Full Stack Game Engineer who can architect and build production-ready game systems and bring our ideas to market. As a key member of our rapidly growing Digital team, you will be working in a fast-paced and highly creative environment and help us bring our vision of exciting and novel games to life on mobile devices, consoles, web, and other platforms.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Architect, implement, and maintain complex game systems with front end and back end components
  • Design systems for use by more junior engineers and technical designers
  • Set a high bar in the code review process, mentoring other technical staff
  • Participate in an agile development process, including estimating effort and risk
  • Work with diverse team of designers, artists, engineers, production staff, and company vision leaders to iterate on ideas and bring them to life

WHAT WE NEED:

  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Deep experience working in a game engine, e.g., Unity or Unreal; experience developing and shipping games in Unity a plus
  • Prior experience with cloud services, e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Familiarity with web design and development, e.g., CSS, HTML5, JS, or React.js
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members
  • Strong command of Computer Science and linear algebra topics
  • A passion for games, both digital and physical
  • Must be located in California, Washington, Texas or New York, however California is preferred
  • Experience developing games for PC, console and mobile devices along with experience with build, test and deploy automation a plus
