Epic Games has multiple openings for Technical Artist – Enterprise at our Los Angeles office. They will be responsible for material creation and technical aspects of the art pipeline for Enterprise customers that utilize the engine for projects in film/FX/broadcast TV, automotive, architectural visualization, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Working with cutting edge technologies to achieving photo-realistic visuals and conceiving, designing and implementing interactive experiences in Unreal Engine for applications in a wide variety of industries;
  • Assisting with Unreal Engine licensing efforts including but not limited to live Unreal Engine demonstrations, arranging evaluations, providing pre- and post-license technical support, and evangelizing Unreal Engine at trade shows;
  • Providing development support to clients, troubleshooting and performing custom development, offering creative solutions, resolving technical challenges, and identifying bottlenecks and limitations in pipeline and tools development; and,
  • Keeping current with technological advancements with a specific focus on physically based and photorealistic rendering, virtual reality, and digital content creation technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited university in the U.S., or its foreign equivalent, in Animation, Visual Effects, Digital Arts, or related degree and 1 year of experience working with and creating animations for film.
  • At least 2 years professional experience in all of the following
    • Working with Unreal Engine
    • Managing art assets and pipelines
    • Using 3DSMax or Maya for 3D asset creation and refinement
    • Optimizing exterior/interior lighting and shading within a variety of environments;
    • Resolving complex issues, helping other artists resolve technical hurdles
    • Using art software packages including Photoshop, Zbrush, Mudbox, etc.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% or more as required to support Enterprise customers in the US, UK, Germany, Japan and Korea.

To qualify applicants must submit resume and demonstrate 3D asset and environment creation skills by submitting a portfolio which shows high quality, high-poly materials and effects with a strong sense of detailing, cinematography, and composition.
