What We Do

The Quality Assurance team owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of all products and functions across Epic. Our team works closely with developers and production to ensure the best possible user experience for our community and customers.

What You'll Do

We’re looking for an experienced Sr. QA Manager for the Unreal Engine team! In this role you will be developing and guiding the quality strategy for our Unreal Engine and Creator Ecosystem platform, partnering with other discipline leads, and innovating and improving our quality processes to deliver an epic experience for our designers, developers, and players You will develop automation strategies, and grow and lead technical analysts, QA Engineers, and SDETs to solve complex testing problems and scale our quality efforts.. In this role, you will

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of QA testers, analysts, engineers and SDETs focused on the Unreal Engine, providing coaching and feedback to guide others to success and developing training to improve technical and automation skillsets

  • Develop a Quality Strategy encompassing staffing, technical requirements, product space and involvement throughout the development lifecycle, with the right balance between manual and automated testing to focus on the most important immediate needs while scaling for the future

  • Collaborate with other QA managers in the UEFN, Verse, FN, Games, and other spaces to identify areas of risk between products and work out mitigation strategies across the FNE platform

  • Identify and invest in improvement and innovation opportunities in existing quality approaches and provide recommendations of new ones where they are needed and impactful

  • Define and use KPIs and data to inform testing priorities and outline risks on a project level, providing clear accountability chains and escalation paths for multiple levels of ownership in QA

  • Work with other departments and disciplines to set quality bars and standards and Manage, mentor, and develop future leaders and managers within the department

  • Partner across Unreal Engine development leadership to strengthen the quality of our products and establish to a tools and automation roadmap for future testing and tooling support

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years of QA experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership/management level

  • Proven capability in leading and managing teams of QA professionals, both Individual Contributors and Leads, directly embedded with the rest of the development team

  • Proven ability to develop and implement automation strategies, and grow manual test teams into highly technical teams delivering automation as well as manual testing.

  • Strong understanding of the importance of multiple testing strategies, including verification and validation testing, usability testing, security testing, performance testing, etc

  • Excellent leadership skills, including mentorship, planning technical roadmaps, making trade-offs, and prioritization

  • Ability to architect solutions for development and QA when solutions do not exist within the space required

  • Ability to quickly understand complex tech stacks and find solutions that complement/extend rather than bypass existing investments and demonstrate expert-level understanding of KPIs and Metrics that inform quality in products, people, and processes

  • Proven ability to take ownership over large-scale process improvements, working with other QA and with other disciplines to plan, implement, and drive adoption and have a deep understanding of risk, specifically how to identify, classify, report on, and manage it

  • Coding skills, especially C++, strongly preferred

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

Washington Base Pay Range

$148,512—$217,818 USD
