GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER INTERN

What You'll Do

The Alpha Team designs and builds example game mechanics and gameplay features to test the readiness of Fortnite Ecosystem features before release. These examples may then become sample projects for the community, the subject of blog posts or other educational material, or regression tests for QA.

In this role, you will

  • Collaborate with a globally diverse team of developers consisting of Design, Art, Tech Art and Animator

  • Learn to use Verse, our new programming language for the Metaverse

  • Build experiences with UEFN and offer feedback on its usability and functionality

  • Be one of the first developers in the world to use new UEFN features before they’re released

  • Implement gameplay features using Verse language and Fortnite Creator tools

  • Experiment with existing and upcoming UEFN features to make prototype games or features

  • Support non-programmer colleagues with the development of Verse features and gameplay

What we're looking for

  • Interest in gameplay programming

  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate competently in English

  • Able to react and respond effectively to feedback

  • A flexible approach to development and willingness to apply out-of-the-box thinking and approaches to rapidly evolving software

  • Bonus: Experience with a major programming language such as C++, C#, Haskell, Javascript, Rust, or Verse is desirable but not required

This internship has a flexible start date in 2025. Recruitment will be ongoing until teams find an ideal match.
