Redwood City, CA, US

Marketing and Commercial Organization (MCO)

We are Electronic Arts’ Marketing and Commercial Organization (MCO). Our teams build meaningful relationships with hundreds of millions of players around the world who love our games. We aim to be the best at meeting players where they are and supporting them throughout their journey with EA. Our teams develop the strategic vision of our products, run outstanding multi-channel campaigns, build global engagement across all touch points, develop global insights, and propel sales and global publishing. We understand the dynamic global landscape so we can bring relevant content, promotions, and help to players anywhere.

We foster an environment where our teams create the most amazing work of their career while inspiring the world to play.

At our core, Electronic Arts is a game maker that connects hundreds of millions of players from around the globe to some of the world’s greatest games. The EAX team is driving the strategy and implementation of important initiatives for EA’s community of players to connect them to one another and to the games they love to play. These initiatives include: EA Access, our cross-platform subscription currently on Origin, PS4, Xbox One and soon on Steam: Origin, EA’s gaming service on PC; and a host of other consumer experiences and strategies to connect friends across platforms and within our games.

At Electronic Arts, we’re on a mission to inspire the world with the universal power of play. For decades, we’ve created some of the world’s greatest games for an audience of hundreds of millions of players from every corner of the world and every walk of life.

Our players are the center of what we do, and they’re the focus of our vision for the future of games. Our goal is no less than to transform our industry and brighten our world by bringing a billion people together on a new kind of playground — a global ecosystem where our players can connect to our games and to one another, whenever and wherever they are, in the spirit of play. Copywriter: Paid Summer Mark

Our team, EAX, is driving that vision. We’re expanding our player network to new platforms, from next-generation consoles to web, mobile, the cloud and beyond. We’re transforming our industry with software designed and built from the ground up with our players in mind. And we’re creating an unparalleled new experience of play to bring our players deeper into our games and closer to one another.

Here’s what you’ll do:

You’ll join our Copy & Information Architecture team to build EAX’s next-generation player services and experiences. With the mentorship of our senior writers and content strategists, you’ll work with team members in our marketing, publishing, design, engineering, and global brand teams to strategize and create player-facing copy and to enhance our evolving brand on multiple platforms. Your work here will matter. You’ll work directly on our products and experiences, and your writing will be translated into a dozen languages and seen by millions of players worldwide.

You’re a more-than-just-a-writer writer

At EAX, we take writing seriously. We’ve found that outstanding writers tend to be outstanding thinkers, which is why we empower our writers to keep a high-level view of our projects, hold us accountable to our players, and take strategic and creative leadership in defining and enforcing our brand standards. Above all, we celebrate writing as a diverse, transferable skill-set that integrates a huge array of disciplines — from content strategy and product management to UX writing, interaction design, advertising, marketing, e-commerce, and information architecture.

You’ll have the chance to learn from team members in each of these fields, and we’ll ask you to bring your insights to the table as we work together on complex new projects. Direct experience in any of these areas, or even a deep knowledge of video games, is not necessary. We can teach you these things, and you’ll rely far more on the hard-to-teach skills and talents that we’ll need you to show up with on your own.

You’re someone whose skills and talents look something like this:

  • Your greatest power is your empathy. You’re able to imagine yourself into the lives and shifting circumstances of countless players from countless backgrounds to understand exactly what to say, how to say it, or whether to say anything at all.
  • You’re an advocate of inclusivity, and you know that words are powerful tools for welcoming people of every identity, self-expression, and way of life
  • You think of writing as a form of design, and you know to look well beyond the horizon of any word or sentence to envision the entire system you’re building
  • You’re as prepared to share and defend your choices as you are to get back to the drawing board and try again
  • You’re receptive to the creative, artistic, and social value of video games, even if you’re not an active player or have never played at all

You also bring the following skills and experiences to our team:

  • One year of experience producing consumer-facing copy for digital, print, or broadcast channels
  • A portfolio of writing and a willingness to speak to the processes and challenges that have informed your work
  • Knowledge of UX writing or writing for user interfaces, or an interest in this field
  • A background of study in the humanities, social sciences, or creative arts
