EA is looking for a motivated, skilled, practical, and well-rounded Legal Counsel who will serve as the primary legal partner supporting a wide variety of commercial transactions for multiple business groups within EA including, (i) the marketing communications team that manages EA’s influencer relationships, (ii) EA’s partner program, which works with both established and indie developers outside of EA to bring their games to players, (iii) EA’s North American real estate and physical security teams, (iv) commercial transactional support for operations teams in EA’s studios and mobile organizations, and (v) other commercial transactional support as needed. This position can be based in Playa Vista, Austin, Seattle or Vancouver.

Responsibilities include:

  • Draft and negotiate marketing services agreements, influencer agreements, and influencer agreement templates.
  • Support EA’s partner program agreements with third party game developers.
  • Draft and negotiate complex equipment lease agreements, professional services and consulting agreements, and construction agreements.
  • Manage outside counsel’s work on significant real estate leases and related transactions; draft and negotiate simple lease extensions, option exercises, and other real estate agreements.
  • Work with legal colleagues to develop and maintain policies, contract templates, training, and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of legal matters in the areas of marketing, publishing, and real estate.
  • Develop creative solutions to support business needs and objectives while mitigating risk.

Required skills and experience:

  • B.A/B.S., J.D. degrees and State Bar membership with 5+ years of experience with a law firm or relevant in-house experience supporting commercial transactions. Experience with marketing service providers, and/or publishing agreements a plus.
  • Solid understanding of privacy issues arising in the context of commercial transactional support, including GDPR and COPPA requirements and privacy policy compliance, as well as familiarity with negotiating data protection agreements.
  • Ability to manage outside counsel actively and effectively.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional business and legal teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish strong working relationships with business owners.
  • Ability to work independently to manage entire contract process from initial contact, negotiation, execution.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work with minimal supervision with the ability to multi-task, assess business and legal risk in a focused and efficient manner, and prioritize workload efficiently and effectively.
